My forearms tighten whenever she’s near
Longing to feel her skin pressed against mine
To speak to her without words or fear
And discover secrets we both might find
My heart beats different, trying to define
Which one of us two is its true owner
As it tries to synchronize and align
Trying to escape just to get closer
My stomach crawling with caterpillars
Has now exploded to house butterflies
Fluttering in attempt to be near her
Wondering if freedom might catalyze
My mind knows better than wishful thinking
So I’ll drown these butterflies in whiskey
